Nuvo Restaurant offers a plethora of desserts that will satisfy your sweet tooth and end your delicious meal with a bang. Austria is known not just for the beautiful sceneries but also the tasty food, whether you find them on the streets or in restaurants. 

In every meal, lunch or dinner is not complete without delectable desserts. A lot of people consider this the highlight of their meal because of the flavours that separate it from the rest of the dishes. 

With that said, here are the following Austrian desserts we offer here at Nuvo Restaurant:

Kletzenbrot (Fruit bread)

The Kletzenbrot or fruit bread is composed of dried pears, nuts, raisins and spices such as cinnamon, garlic and fennel. This dessert is considered one of the oldest traditional desserts in the country and is loved by many locals because it’s healthy and doesn’t taste too sweet. 

Here at Nuvo Restaurant, we use the following ingredients to make this delicious dessert:

Ingredients for the filling: 

  • 16 oz. dried pears (Kletzen)
  • 16 oz. raisins
  • 16 oz. whole hazelnuts
  • ½ ounce candied orange peel
  • 1 heaped tsp. cinnamon, ground
  • 1 heaped tsp. cloves, ground
  • 2 packs of vanilla sugar (0.32 oz.)
  • Grated zest of an organic lemon
  • ½ cup rum
  • 1 pinch aniseed
  • 1 pinch fennel
  • 1 large handful of raw cane sugar.

Ingredients for the dough and crust:

  • 2.2 lb. rye flour
  • 2.2. lb. wheat flour
  • 2 cubes yeast  (2.9 oz.)
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • Lukewarm water.

Marillenkuchen (Apricot cake)

Our Marillenkuchen is a simple yet flavourful cake topped with fresh apricots, making it the perfect summer treat. Fortunately, even if it’s not the hot season, Nuvo Restaurant still serves this best-selling dish for everyone to enjoy! 

Once you take a bite of our Marillenkuchen, you’ll immediately notice that it’s moist mostly because of the pureed fruit that we include in the batter. Upon serving, our chefs dust off powdered sugar on top to give it an extra sweetness.

Here are the following ingredients we use for this dessert:

  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 0.32 oz. vanilla sugar
  • 0.16 oz. baking powder
  • ½ lemon (juice)
  • Apricots
  • ½ cup oil
  • ½ cup water
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Chopped almonds.

Kärntner Reindling (Brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins cake)

Kärntner Reindling is a soft and sweet bread baked in a round baking dish. It is packed with sultanas and cinnamon, giving it an extra sweet flavour and chewy finish. Once the cake is ready, our chefs serve it as it is with no added decorations or flavour to keep it simple. 

We use the following ingredients to make this delicious dessert:

  • 9 cups flour
  • 1 ½ cube of yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 3 yolks
  • Rum
  • Salt
  • Brown crystal sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Raisins.
